This means that the HBO series outpaced the premiere ratings of Emmy-winning hit dramas such as Euphoria (3.3 million in 2019) and The White Lotus (3 million in 2021).

The Daily Mail praised Jennie, stating, “A big draw for the Zoomers streaming is undoubtedly BLACKPINK’s Jennie Kim, who made her acting debut (under the stage name Jennie Ruby Jane) as troubled pop star Jocelyn’s (Lily-Rose Depp) back-up dancer Dyanne.Jennie recently walked the red carpet at the Cannes International Film Festival for the show’s screening.

In the meantime, the production company has denied rumors that The Idol will not get a second season.

HBO took to Twitter on June 15th to clarify, stating, It is being misreported that a decision on a second season of The Idol has been determined. It has not, and we look forward to sharing the next episode with you Sunday night.

Page Six reported that a source informed them, “This was never meant to be a long-running show, it was always … a limited series.”
