Min Woo Hyuk opened up about how his wife responded to his sudden rise in popularity after his role in Doctor Cha.
The actor shared, “Before the show premiered, I had no idea it would be such a big hit. The amount of love it’s received has exceeded my expectations. It’s incredible to see so many people showing their support and affection for my character, Roy Kim. I can definitely feel a rise in popularity.”
“My wife, Lee Se Mi, who is also the CEO of my agency, is one of the biggest fans of the show,” Min Woo Hyuk shared. “She actually told me that she believed it would be a successful series after watching the entire rehearsal process. I became so engrossed in my character because my wife is practically like Cha Jung Sook.”
He continued, “My wife is someone who does not rely on anyone’s assistance. She sacrificed everything to marry me. Since our marriage, she has taken care of our children and me and I think that’s why she always roots for Cha Jung Sook. When she expressed her desire to have someone like Roy Kim, I jokingly told her, ‘I am your Roy!’ But she insisted that she needed a real one. I thought this drama was the perfect source of comfort and support for viewers when they needed it the most.”
Min Woo Hyuk expressed his gratitude towards his wife, stating, “I mostly rehearsed this role with my wife, and I learned a lot from her. She provided me with plenty of valuable advice on how to portray the character, saying things like, ‘You can be even cooler in this scene’ and ‘Roy can do that.’ Now I can clearly see that she was absolutely right.”
