Director Na Hong Jin’s new film Hope will feature a star-studded cast, including Hwang Jung Min, Jo In Sung, Michael Fassbender, and Jung Ho Yeon.

Hope is a sci-fi movie about the residents living on the outskirts of a remote town named Hopo Port. The story follows their fight for survival against a mysterious person visiting the village. The upcoming film marks director Na’s first work in eight years since The Wailing, and it will be produced into a trilogy.

Originally, Hope was a new collaboration project between director Na and Alfonso Cuarón from the U.S. However, some changes were later made, and the movie was set to be filmed in South Korea. Following this announcement, various distribution companies showed interest in financing the film before Plus M decided to invest in it.

Hwang Jung Min, who first met director Na through The Wailing, has already been cast as a rural police officer named Beam Seok.

Jo In Sung will be joining the film for the first time as a young hunter named Sung Gi.

Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander will act in English for the movie. Reports say that the couple decided to take part in the project as they were impressed by director Na’s previous works. This will be the first time they appear together in the same show since The Light Between Oceans.

Squid Game star Jung Ho Yeon reportedly accepted the offer despite having a busy schedule in the United States. She will take on the role of a police officer named Seong Ae.

Hope is set to begin filming both in Korea and overseas in the second half of this year.
