Princess Hours was greenlighted for a remake.

According to JTBC News, multiple insiders have shared, “The rumors of the audition for Princess Hours are spreading among some actors.” The report has it that one of the actors has already started preparing for their acting and visuals for the audition.

Previously, there were reports about Jaedam Media, the company in charge of the management of the original comic Goong (the Korean title of Princess Hours), signing a remake contract with drama production company Group 8. However, the schedule for the production got indefinitely postponed due to COVID-19.

On Tuesday, Group 8 told TV Report, “Princess Hours is getting a remake.” The company confirmed, “We plan on starting the production later this year and broadcasting it next year. Since it’s a remake, there will be some changes from the original drama released in 2006.”

Set in an alternative 21st-century Korea where monarchy and imperial family have retained, Princess Hours revolves around the romance between the crown prince and his new bride. The show was ranked the tenth most popular drama of 2006, with a peak rating of 27.1%. The popularity of Yoon Eun Hye, Ju Ji Hoon, and Song Ji Hyo, the lead actors of Princess Hours, has since grown unabated.
