Lee Se Young is considering her comeback with the new webtoon-based series The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract (literal title).
On Friday, Sports Chosun reported that Lee Se Young was cast in The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract. Based on the webtoon of the same name, this new drama tells the story of a girl from Josen who somehow ends up in modern times.
Soon after the report came out, Lee Se Young’s agency Prain TPC responded, “She’s positively considering her appearance.” If she does join the show, the actress will turn into Park Yeon Woo, the old maid in Hanyang and Tae Ha’s fake bride.
In the mid-19th century, she was the only daughter of the Minister of Interior who heated up the capital with a “certain” rumor. But on the day of her marriage, her husband dies and she ends up as a widow. Before she could even mourn the death of her one-day husband, she suddenly finds herself in Korea 200 years later and struggles to return to Joseon.
The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract is basically the combination of all of Lee Se Young’s strong suits – historical genre and rom-com. Last year, the actress led two projects to success. MBC’s The Red Sleeve started a craze, garnering 17% viewer ratings, while KBS’s The Law Cafe also showed a solid performance. Since this new webtoon adaptation will go back and forth between the past and the current time with a love story, expectations are already high.
Meanwhile, The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract is slated for premiere on MBC in the second half of this year.
