Yoo Yeon Seok showed off his mature and youthful charms in the new pictorial for Harper’s Bazaar Korea.
In the interview that followed he talked about the drama The Interest of Love. “I wanted people to feel a connection when they saw my performance,” he shared. “I like projects where people look more human than fancy. I’ve tried roles completely different from myself, but this time, I wanted to do what I’m good at. So rather than making challenges or transformation, I tried to focus on the details like eye contact or the subtle exchanges.”
Yoo Yeon Seok then talked about why he chose a romance drama. “I always had a vague wish that I could wrap up my 30s with a romance drama. And while looking through the projects, I found it interesting that The Interest of Love deals with a realistic love story. It doesn’t have some grand narrative or love that overcomes adversity, but it was so realistic that it broke my heart.”
Having debuted in the 2003 movie Oldboy, the actor celebrates his 20th debut anniversary. “At the beginning of my career, I just thought, ‘Let’s do this for 10 years,’ and in my 10th year, I received so much love with Reply 1994, so how lucky I am. Ten years have passed, and I’m celebrating my 20th anniversary. I’m just grateful that people think of me and that I can act even after the many variables. I want to keep on acting as I do now.”
