According to Billboard, BLACKPINK’s “Shut Down” blasted onto both the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts at No. 1. Previously, BLACKPINK’s new smash Born Pink soared in as the act’s first No. 1 on the U.S-based Billboard 200 chart.
They continued, “The South Korean pop superstars achieve their second No. 1 on the Global 200 after ‘Pink Venom’ debuted atop the Sept. 3 chart. They notch their third leader on Global Excl. U.S., following ‘Pink Venom’ and ‘Lovesick Girls,’ which launched atop the list in October 2020.”
‘Shut Down’ landed at the top of the Billboard Global 200 with 152.8 million streams and 17,000 downloads sold worldwide from the 16th to 22nd. The act also ranked second on the same chart with “Pink Venom,” which reigned in its first two weeks on the chart and rebounds from No. 4. The girls are the first to place at both Nos. 1 and 2 in a single week on the Global 200 – only soloists Harry STules and Drake had previously achieved the feat.
Meanwhile, BLACKPINK is showing off its global influence with Born Pink. This new set not only topped the Billboard 200 but also UK Official Albums Chart. The quartet is the only Asian female act to dominate the world’s biggest two charts, the first since Destiny’s Child 21 years ago.
