Song Kang Ho will be making his drama debut.
The new drama Uncle Samsik (literal title) paints out the ambition and bromance of two men, Uncle Samsik and Kim San, who survived a turbulent period in the early 1960s. It tells the story of the love, faith, and doubts of Samsik, who claims that he ate three meals even during the war, and elite Kim San.
Uncle Samsik made headlines as the first drama to be added to Korea’s best actor Song Kang Ho’s filmography. Song Kang Ho, who has rewritten the history of Korean cinema for the past 32 years and became the first Korean actor to win the Cannes best actor, will finally meet the viewers on a small screen.
Above all, Uncle Samsik comes from Shin Yeon Shick, who’ll be reteaming with Song Kang Ho. Shin was in charge of directing, scripting, and producing One Win (literal title), the first volleyball movie in Korea starring Song Kang Ho. He also participated in penning the script and co-produced Kim Jee Woon’s new movie Cobweb (literal title), also starring Song Kang Ho.
Slingshot Studio shared, “Samsik, the main character of the 10-part series Uncle Samsik, is a character with a colorful narrative. And without a doubt, Song Kang Ho will breathe life into this unique character. We’ll show a well-made dram of high quality to the viewers.”
