Jang Gyuri will be leaving fromis_9.
On the 28th, Pledis Entertainment announced the news, “After wrapping up the 5th mini-album from our Memento Box promotions, Jang Gyuri will conclude her contract earlier with us and embark on a new journey.”
According to the label, the eight members of the group – Lee Saerom, Song Hayoung, Park Jiwon, Roh Jisun, Lee Seoyeon, Lee Chaeyoung, Lee Nagyung, and Baek Jiheon – signed a new exclusive contract when they transferred to Pledis in August 2021. However, Jang Gyuri maintained the conditions of the original contract with her former agency, and Pledis managed her team and individual activities.
Pledis added, “The artist and the agent came to a decision after careful consideration and discussions on what would be the best choice for everyone. Please continue to send your love and support to Jang Gyuri, who has always given her all as a member of fromis_9, and to the eight members, who will start a new chapter of their careers.”
Meanwhile, fromis_9, which will now work under an 8-member system, will meet their fans in Japan first.
