Hansan: The Emergence of Dragons (literal title) has unveiled its first teaser.
Hansan: The Emergence of Dragons, is the second film of director Kim Han Min‘s trilogy about battles led by Yi Sun Sin.
It depicts the Battle of Hansan Island, a naval battle between the Japanese and Korean fleets that took place in 1592. This is five years before the Battle of Myeongnyang depicted in The Admiral: Roaring Currents, which became the most-watched and highest-grossing film of all time in Korea.
The teaser released on Tuesday shows Yi Sun Sin pondering over the formation called “crane wing” and his turtle ships. It raises anticipation over how the movie will showcase the use of “crane wing formation” and the turtle ships in the battle, which has only been passed on in words.
Above all, Decision to Leave star Park Hae Il‘s transformation into young Yi Sun Sin following Choi Min Sik, who played older Yi Sun Sin in The Admiral, is making headlines. The teaser gives a glimpse into the formation with the narration, “I’m trying to subdue the enemy by using the enemy’s intensity.”
At the end of the teaser, the intense naval battles between Joseon and Japan catch the eyes. Especially the first appearance of the famous turtle ships heightens expectations for the great battle that’ll fill the big screen this summer.
Meanwhile, Hansan: The Emergence of Dragons, starring Park Hae Il, Byun Yo Han, Kim Seong Gyoo, Ok Taecyeon, Gong Myung and more, will hit the screen at the end of July.
