(G)I-DLE’s Jeon Soyeon confided in WINNER’s Kang Seung Yoon about the recent change in her group.

Jeon Soyeon appeared in JTBC’s ARTIST WAY. Kang Seung Yoon told her, “You’re a singer that I have a lot of respect for. I wanted to meet you, and here I am, seeing you again.” He added, “You were already known before you made your debut. And I thought you were awesome to lead your group. So I tend to mention that a lot in my interviews. I’ve been a fan of (G)I-DLE since your debut.”

WINNER went through a long hiatus when Nam Tae Hyun left the group in 2016. But this crisis acted as an opportunity and motivation for Kang Seung Yoon. He sharpened his skills and finally released “Really Really” in April of 2017. The song topped all music charts and music shows, announcing the grand comeback of WINNER reorganized as a 4-member group.

Last year, Jeon Soyeon’s group (G)I-DLE was rearranged as a 5-member group when Soojin left the group after her school violence scandal.

Regarding the changed lineup of her group, Jeon Soyeon said, “We also went through a rough patch last year. At the time I thought, ‘If a member leaves, doesn’t that mean the group is doomed?’ I had that prejudice in me. But WINNER was my only hope.”

Hearing that, Kang Seung Yoon responded, “Your recent promotion was a hit. I sympathized with your situation, so I ended up rooting for you guys.”
