Red Velvet’s Joy will star in new Kakao TV original series Accidental Country Diary (literal title).

On the 26th, Kakao Entertainment announced, “Joy will be playing policewoman Ahn Ja Young in Accidental Country Diary.” Based on the web novel of the same name, the show paints out the romance of a veterinarian from Seoul and a policewoman born and raised in a rural village. The story of two people healing each other and falling in love in a warm rural atmosphere received love from the viewers.

This new romance drama comes from Bossam: Steal the Fate director Kwon Seok Jang. The filming will begin in the first half of this year and be released on Kakao TV later this year.

Joy plays policewoman Ahn Ja Young, the most popular girl in the village with great social skills. Nobody in Heedong-ri hates her, and when a quarrel breaks up between the villagers, all they need is Ja Young to intervene. Ja Young, who cares about every detail of what’s happening in the Heedong-ri, is quite different from Han Ji Yul, a veterinarian from Seoul.

Han Ji Yul, played by Choo Young Woo, doesn’t care much about others, and he does everything by the book. Joy’s romance with Choo Young Woo will be the key feature of the show.

Park Soo Young shared, “It is an honor to be able to work with director Kwon Seok Jang, whom I have always respected. Like the title of the drama, I hope that it will become a shelter that viewers accidentally come upon.”

Meanwhile, Accidental Country Diary will be a mid-form drama with 12 episodes that are about 30 minutes long.
