Lee Min Ho and Gong Hyo Jin are coming together for Ask the Stars (literal title).
Ask the Stars is Korea’s first rom-com drama set on a space station. It took five years to prepare with a budget of 50 billion KRW (about $40.7 million). Pasta and Jealousy Incarnate writer Seo Sook Hyang and It’s Okay to Not Be Okay and Lovestruck in the City director Park Shin Woo were tabbed as writer and director in charge. Moreover, KeyEast, leading the industry with trendy and creative projects like The School Nurse Files and Inspector Koo, will be producing the production.
The series will have the characters travel back and forth between the space station and the Earth. Lee Min Ho plays Gong Ryong, an OB-GYN with a strong sense of responsibility that arrives at the space station as a tourist. Gong Hyo Jin takes on the role of Eve Kim, a Korean-American astronaut.
Meanwhile, Ask the Stars will begin its filming in April with the goal of releasing it in 2023. The show will air in Korea and globally via an OTT platform yet to be decided.
