Netflix’s ‘Hellbound’ Wins the Best Horror Series at the 2021 Golden Tomato Awards

Netflix’s Hellbound, which thrilled the global audience with the ultimate dystopia envisioned by Yeon Sang Ho, won the Best Horror Series of 2021 at this year’s Golden Tomato Awards.

The Golden Tomato Awards is a feature on popular movie website Rotten Tomatoes that decides the best movies of each year via critics rating. Hellbound maintained a 97 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes, ranking first among all horror series released in 2021. Regarding the show, Rotten Tomato exclaimed, “Summoned by the devilish imagination of director Yeon Sang Ho, Hellbound leverages its terrifying concept to thoughtfully explore human nature.”

Meanwhile, the show dominated Netflix’s top 10 TV show charts in 71 countries including South Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Jamaica, and Nigeria. It also topped the global top 10 non-English TV series chart, recording an accumulated 43.38 million hours watched in the first three days. In addition, the series garnered attention even before its release with official invitations from renowned events including the Toronto International Film Festival, BFI London Film Festival, and Busan International Film Festival.
