Following “Dynamite,” BTS once again topped the digital song sales chart of 2021 with “Butter.”

BTS set the record of best-selling digital track in the States for two consecutive years with the hit song “Butter.” According to an annual year-end report released jointly by MRC Data and Billboard on Thursday (local time), “Butter” ranked first in the digital song sales category with 1,889,00 downloads. In 2020, BTS’ “Dynamite” was the top seller with 1.26 million sold.

The group’s second English song stayed 10 non-consecutive weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100. Only a total of 40 tracks, including “Butter,” have achieved such a feat in Billboard history.

What’s more impressive is the number of downloads for “Butter.” The number is 3.8 times more than that of the song ranked second, Walker Hayes’s “Fancy Like” (499,000 downloads). Additionally, the only song with more than 1 million downloads is “Butter.” With this, BTS continued its “1 million downloads” record following last year’s “Dynamite.”

Moreover, two more of the BTS songs ranked within the top 10 – “Permission To Dance” (404,000 downloads) and “My Universe” with Coldplay (287,000 downloads).

In particular, the report highlighted K-pop’s performance in the global market under the title “K-pop consumption charts new milestone.”

Besides BTS, Blackpink’s Lisa and Rosé’s solo debut and TWICE’s English single were also introduced in the report.
