‘Artificial City’ Premieres to No.1 Ratings as ‘Melancholia’ Sees a Slight Rise

JTBC’s new drama Artificial City is off to a promising start.

According to Nielsen Korea, the premiere episode of the new JTBC drama garnered an average nationwide viewership rating of 3.6 percent.

Artificial City is set against the backdrops of an art museum run by Sungjin Group, a conglomerate that rules over Korea’s political and business worlds. The series follows an ambitious woman who aspires to be the most powerful person in the country. The first episode revolves around Yoon Jae Hee (Soo Ae), the second daughter-in-law of Seongjin’s family. Upon a proposal from her mother-in-law Seo Han Sook (Kim Mi Sook), Yoon makes a decision to make her husband Jung Jun Hyeok (Kim Kang Woo) the president of South Korea.

Meanwhile, the ninth episode of tvN’s Melancholia scored an average nationwide viewership rating of 3.2 percent. The drama recorded the second-highest ratings since its first episode which saw 3.6 percent. In the episode, Ji Yoon So (Im Soo Jung) and Baek Seung Yoo (Lee Do Hyun) decide to act on their revenge in their own way.

KBS’ School 2021 recorded a viewership rating of 1.6 percent for its fifth episode. The last episode hints at a new story as Jin Ji Won (Cho Yi Hyun) gives a hand to Gong Ki Joon (Kim Yo Han) while he was searching for a new house again due to his grandfather’s failing health.
