Laboum’s leader Yujeong is leaving the group. Seven years after their debut, the group will promote under a 4-member system.
On Wednesday, Yujeong posted a handwritten letter on her Instagram. Through it, she confirmed that she’d be saying goodbye to the team after their 7th debut anniversary.
The decision came after much consideration. “I continued to convey my thoughts to the company. In the end, the company and I decided to part ways.”
Yujeong explained, “I came to stand at a major crossroads in my life as I reach 30. And I had to make a careful decision, so I thought hard about it.” Other members will continue to work as Laboum. “The rest of the members, except for me, have decided to renew their contracts and continue their team promotions,” she added.
The artist also showed her love for the members. “I’m so grateful for Soyeon, ZN, Haein, and Solbin for standing by the team for 7 years,” she commented. “I may not have been the best leader, but I can shamelessly say that I have worked diligently to be accountable for our team as the team’s leader and the oldest sister.”
Yujeong then looked back on her career and shared, “I have never once regretted my life choices. I loved being on stage, and I was happy while singing. I believe I could be where I am now, all thanks to LATTEs who have always supported us unconditionally.”
Lastly, she wrote, “I would be grateful if you would continue cheering on my path as Yujeong. And please continue to support our LABOUM members as well. Everyone, I hope to see you soon with good news. Thank you.”
Meanwhile, Laboum debuted in 2014 with the debut single Petit Macaron. Recently, their 2016 song “Fresh Adventure” made it back on the charts, gaining much attention.
