Jung So Min shared her final thoughts on Monthly Magazine Home in a written interview. In Monthly Magazine Home that wrapped up its production on August 5th, Jung So Min played Na Young Won, an editor who’s been in the industry for more than ten years. She received positive reviews for her character as a young woman living in this modern era.
Jung shared, “I can’t believe it ended so soon. In fact, it was the longest production that I’ve ever done. Because I spent most of the time on the office drama set, I felt like an actual editor going to the office every morning. It was my first time feeling like I belong somewhere, so we developed a special bond with each other.”
Jung said that she shares many similarities with Na Young Won in Monthly Magazine Home. “We’re similar in a sense that we try to do our best at work and given jobs. Although the character and I have different backgrounds and occupations, we both have pursued one career for ten years. If there’s one difference, it would be that I’m not so as nice as Young Won.”
Monthly Magazine Home centered around the topic of ‘housing’ and received great reviews for its fresh subject matter. The actress remarked, “It’s the first time for a Korean drama to ever deal with the concept of ‘housing,’ so it was very interesting. We all go through some difficulties related to housings, and the drama has effectively delivered a unique narrative of each character related to the issue. I think the script has put more focus on how characters have different attitudes toward their houses and their own lives than on the real estate itself.”
This was her second collaboration with Kim Ji Seok. “I think Kim is a person who puts others before himself. We met eight years ago in a short drama episode and this was our second time working together. He is always more mature than I am on the set, so I counted on him a lot while shooting. We were able to work more comfortably with each other because it was our second project together.”
The video clip of Jung So Min and Kim Ji Seok’s first kiss in the 10th episode went viral online, reaching nearly 130,000 views. Regarding this, Jung expressed her gratitude, “Thank you for liking the video clip. Although the kiss sequence was short in the drama, we spent several days on the filming locations, which was an old house. It makes me recall all those memories we had there because it was the first time all of Monthly Magazine Home cast have traveled away from the set.”
Young Won and Ja Sung had lots of romantic scenes. She further explained, “There were many sweet scenes. Ja Sung was adorable when he was struggling to keep his romantic relationship private. For instance, he yelled at Young Won in front of everybody, turned back, and secretly made a heart with his finger to show her he loves her. Those scenes were cute and fluttering.”
Jung So Min will immediately join tvN’s upcoming drama Hwan Hon after finishing Monthly Magazine Home.
