CJ ENM Will Launch K-pop Audition Program in South America

CJ ENM Joins HBO Max �Endemol Shine Boomdog

CJ ENM will start the K-pop craze in South America alongside HBO Max and Endemol Shine Boomdog.

On the 6th, CJ ENM announced that they would launch a K-pop audition program for the Latin American market. For this project, the company will partner with Warner Media’s OTT “HBO Max” and global production company Endemol Shine Boomdog.

The project will allow CJ ENM’s Mnet crew to plan their unique K-pop audition with South Americal applicants. Mnet’s accumulated planning and development capabilities for audition programs will meet with Endemol Shine Boomdog. And their collaboration will allow a new show filled with South American sentiments.

Once the program broadcasts successfully, there will be a K-pop boy group with South American members. CJ ENM will be the first Korean company to create an audition program in Latin America. For this audition, K-pop artists and South American stars will star as judges.

South America is considered a place with great growth potential for the entertainment industry. In particular, the Latin American music market has recently grown 18.9% annually. This is significantly higher than the global average of 8.2% (Data provided by IFPI Music Global Report in 2019).

There Will Be a Birth of a K-pop Boy Group in South America

“This collaboration with HBO Max and Endemol Shine Boomdog adds meaning to CJ ENM. Because it means that our content production capabilities are being recognized in the global market,” an official from CJ ENM shared. “We are capable of producing an audition program that includes both the characteristics of K-pop and K-content. And with the collaboration with the local production company, we will produce a show that bottles the local charms.”

Meanwhile, Warner Media first launched HBO Max in 2020 and has since been one of the most fast-growing companies. It is now aiming to move into South America next month. Endemol Shine Boomdog is a production company based in Mexico.
