EXO’s Xiumin may try out for the musical theater.
According to a media outlet, the musical Hadestown, premiering in Korea this August, offered Xiumin a role.
Hadestown reinterprets a version of the ancient Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, where Orpheus goes to the underworld to rescue his fiancée Eurydice. It’s a musical adaptation of singer-songwriter Anaïs Mitchell’s concept album, Hadestown.
The show has many musical numbers with various genres, including jazz, blues, folk, and pop. The act brings Greek mythology to a barren setting of the Great Depression. Since its premiere in March 2019, Hadestown won eight Tony Awards.
Xiumin may play the role of Orpheus. The singer has already taken the lead in the army musical Return and wowed the viewers with his glowing presence.
Meanwhile, Hadestown will premiere in August at LG Art Center in Seoul.
