(G)-IDLE’s Miyeon Chosen as the New MC of ‘M COUNTDOWN’

Miyeon of (G)-IDLE is expanding her scope of activities in various fields.

Recently, Miyeon challenged herself as an actress with the role of Yoo Ha Young in the web drama Replay: The Moment (a.k.a. Replay). It is a romance series in which eighteen-year-old youths present their clumsy and anxious yet purest, dreams and love.

In the drama, Yoo Ha Young is a popular YouTuber and a known influencer who gained huge popularity after uploading cover videos of idols’ songs. As the main vocalist of the group herself, Mi Yeon perfectly played the role of Yoo Ha Young who is the band’s vocal with her natural vocal skills and stable acting skills.

On Feb 4th, it was also announced that she has been chosen as the host of Mnet’s music program M COUNTDOWN. Replacing the previous MCs Lee Dae Hwi and Han Hyun Min, Mi Yeon will host the music show along with actor Nam Yoon Soo starting from Feb 18th. As a music program watched by K-Pop fans all around the world, she is expected to gain more popularity with her unique charms.

She is also the host of Naver NOW’s live show Gossip Idle, which will air every Tuesday at 8 p.m. KST from Feb 9th.

The singer is also actively engaged in group activities. After releasing their fourth mini-album I Burn on January 11th, (G)-IDLE has set a record of topping the iTunes album charts in 52 different regions around the world as well as topping real-time music charts. The title track “HWAA” also allowed the group to win 9 consecutive crowns on music shows for the first time ever.

From group activities to acting, hosting a music show, and a live show. Mi Yeon is steadily challenging new fields of activities without lacking in anything. Expectations are now high for Miyeon’s future move for her career. She is indeed suitable for the title of an “all-around idol.”
