BTS Yet Again Takes the Grand Prize at ‘2020 APAN MUSIC AWARDS’

BTS has been awarded the grand prize at the ‘2020 APAN.’ On the afternoon of the 23rd, the 2020 APAN STAR AWARDS was held at the Peace Hall of Kyung Hee Uni. in Seoul. The ceremony was held to encourage, praise, and award artists who have made K-Pop shine around the world. The ’APAN TOP 10’  groups who have shined 2020 were chosen to be Kang Daniel, THE BOYZ, MONSTA X, BTS, SEVENTEEN, IZ*ONE, Lim Young Woong, GOT7, NCT127, and TWICE.

With Jeon So Min and Kim Jong Kook as hosts, 10 winning teams were chosen in the awards ceremony. Each group promised to return the love they received in 2021 through improved performances as they honored their fans. The awards ceremony also explained why the top 10 artists were chosen through a highlight video demonstrating their performances and activities since their debut. 

In the four main categories, the Song of the Year went to MONSTA X, the Artist of the Year to NCT 127, and the Album of the Year to TWICE. BTS won the Grand Prize. Furthermore, WEi received the New K-Pop Icon Award, while IU and Kang Daniel won the Idol Champ Fans’ Pick Solo Awards and BTS and IZ*ONE for Idol Champ Fans’ Pick Group.

The New Wave Award given to rookie groups went to TREASURE and HYNN. A.C.E took home the Global K-Pop Wave Star awards, Jang Min Ho took the Best K-Trot, GOT7’s JB took the Best All-rounder, while Ha Sung Woon won the Best Trend, Kang Daniel for Best Performance, and Park Ji Hoon and LOONA’s Chuu for the Entertainer Award.

BLACKPINK and SEVENTEEN won the Global Pick Group as Hwasa and Kang Daniel won the Global Pick Solo. Finally, Kim Jae Hwan was awarded the Best Choice Best Vocal, Leenalchi for New Focus, and Kang Daniel for KT Seezn Star. Kang Daniel especially drew attention as he won 4 awards in total.
