MBC has confirmed its plans for The Black Sun (literal translation), a blockbuster spy action drama for the second half of 2021.
The Black Sun is a blockbuster masterpiece that MBC and wavve funded 15 billion Won in. With a total of 12 episodes, it is a story of NIS’s top field agent who went missing and returns after a year to catch the organization’s internal traitor.
Han Jihyuk, the top NIS field agent, is confirmed to be played by Namgung Min. With his shrewdness and capability, Han Jihyuk’s character comes back to shake the organization to its core after disappearing for a year.
The Black Sun‘s writer, Park Seokho has previously written multiple prize-winning plays. The producer of Flowers of the Prison and My Healing Love, Kim Sungyong, will also direct this series as they open up a new horizon for Korean spy action dramas together.
With the confirmation of Namgung Min’s casting, the company will start producing MBC’s The Black Sun which will be available on screen in the second half of 2021.
