Minari has been nominated for the Gotham Awards and Valladolid International Film Festival, capturing the heart of the European film industry following Hollywood.
Director Lee Isaac Chung’s Minari, which won the U.S. Dramatic Grand Jury Prize as well as the U.S. Dramatic Audience Award at the Sundance Film Festival, was recently nominated for Gotham Awards and Valladolid International Film Festival, further raising the possibility of an Oscar nomination.
In particular, actress Youn Yuh Jung was nominated for the Best Actress Award at the Gotham Awards, putting her name alongside Frances McDormand, who won the Academy Award for Best Actress.
Earlier, Variety named Minari as one of their “Oscars Predictions” for the Best Picture award and cited Steven Yeun, Youn Yuh Jung and Han Ye Ri as dark horses.
Meanwhile, Academy Awards will be announcing their nominations on March 15, 2021, and will hold the ceremony on April 25.
