On Feb.19, Chen wrote a apology letter to his fans fans about his sudden announcement of his engagement and fiancée’s pregnancy last month. But will his late apology change his fans’ hearts still remains as a question.
Chen wrote on official EXO fan site, “I’m afraid that I might hurt you with my clumsy words bit I do want to apologize to EXO-L who must have felt shocked and betrayed by my sudden announcement.”
He continued, “I don’t know if my feelings will be conveyed well, but I am truly grateful for the love you have given me so far and I know netter than anyone else that I am standing where I stand thanks to these love.” Then he finished his letter by apologizing for responding too late and that he will “show his best efforts in the future.”
After his sudden announcement, there were fans who cheered for him but there were also concerns that his marriage without any hints might damage the image of EXO as all.
At last, some EXO fans issued a statement on Jan. 16 saying, “We have determined that Chen continuing his career as EXO will only hurt and confuse fans and will bring a huge setback in EXO’s image.” Then they demanded that SM Entertainment will first, expel Chen from the team, second, notify them of any schedule changes because of the announcement, and lastly, protection of the artists and manage related search keywords on popular websites.

They also stages a demonstration in front of SM Artium on Jan. 19 and made a performance of dumping all of the goods related to Chen.
Without responding to this matter, Chen released his single album “Alone,” which he collaborated with hip-hop duo Dynamic Duo, on Jan. 23.

Why must he apologize for getting married. I am an EXO-l and I do not own him nor control him. He is his own person. It must be my nationality that plays a role in my thinking, but I don’t see a problem here.
