Netflix has confirmed that Gyeongseong Creature Season 2 will premiere on September 27th, releasing character posters and a teaser to heighten anticipation.
Set against the backdrop of the dark days of 1945 Gyeongseong, the first season of Gyeongseong Creature spans its story of human greed and the poignant romance of two young people fighting against the times. Now, the new season will expand its narrative by shifting to Seoul in 2024, exploring deeper character arcs and a more complex storyline. The new season follows Ho Jae, a man who bears an uncanny resemblance to Tae Sang, and Chae Ok, who lived through the spring of Gyeongseong. Together, they delve into unfinished business from Gyeongseong, uncovering the fates and rivalries that persist.
The character posters released alongside the premiere date show the evolution of these characters from 1945 to 2024. Ho Jae, played by Park Seo Joon, looks strikingly similar to Tae Sang, sparking curiosity about his true identity. Meanwhile, Chae Ok, portrayed by Han So Hee, leaves fans wondering how she survived and what she has been through since swallowing Najin in the Season 1 finale.
New characters, such as Captain Kuroko (Lee Mu Saeng) and Seung Jo (Bae Hyeon Seong), add further intrigue to the expanded storyline of Season 2. Captain Kuroko leads a team of elite agents called the Kurokos, who operate under secret orders and hatch covert plans in Jeonseung Pharmaceutical’s labs.
The teaser opens with Chae Ok waking up with memories of the past after swallowing Najin. Set against the transformed backdrop of 2024 Seoul, Chae Ok encounters Ho Jae, who resembles Tae Sang. However, when he replies, “My name is Jang Ho Jae,” her face falls into despair.
In the meantime, mysterious experiments led by Captain Kuroko continue, hinting at the repetition of past nightmares with Chae Ok’s ominous words, “So it’s not over, then. This hell.” The teaser also showcases Seung Jo’s supernatural abilities to manipulate tentacles and the shadowy Kuroko agents pursuing Tae Sang and Chae Ok. As the characters battle across time, the line “The weight of the karma, a fight to end it all” raises questions about how the fates and rivalries from Gyeongseong to Seoul will be resolved.
