‘The Witch’ is coming back bigger and stronger.
On the 24th, The Witch: Part2. The Other One held its online press conference, which Shin Sia, Park Eun Bin, Seo Eun Soo, Jin Goo, Sung Yoo Bin, Jo Min Su, and director Park Hoon Jung attended.
“It took four years for the sequel to come out. And in the meantime, many accidents swept the globe,” director Park shared. “I wanted to tell the story in line [with what’s happening]. So I unraveled a story with the stories that I had, and I’ve only taken out one-tenth of what I have.”
Shin Sia, who has beat out other 1,408 hopefuls for the title role, said, “I couldn’t believe it at first and I was puzzled.” The role that she plays, “the girl,” is the most powerful among the test subjects. “She has the ability to transcend human limits, so I did a lot of bare-body and wire actions,” the actress introduced. “So I watched a lot of Marvel movies and superhero movies.”
Jo Min Su returns as Director Baek, the twin sister of Doctor Baek from the prequel. “Doctor Baek and Director Baek are twins, but they carry out the projects in a different way,” she explained. Then she referred to director Park’s comment about only telling one-tenth of the story and jokingly added, “Anyhow, I’m going to keep on making the ‘girls’ nine more times.”
For the movie, Park Eun Bin and Seo Eun Soo are making radical transformations. Park Eun Bin said, “There are words and actions that can only be conveyed in movies and not in TV shows. For example, the director wrote the scripts so I could say the harsh tone and the words that I don’t normally use.” Seo Eun Soo shared, “I had a thirst for new genres and characters while playing similar roles. And Cho Hyun was perfect for me.”
Director Park also mentioned Lee Jong Suk’s special appearance on The Witch 2. “When I was working with him for V.I.P., I realized that he was a smarter actor than I thought,” he commented. “And there’s this character Jang that I created, and when I thought about which actor would be the most suitable to bring out the charm of this role, I couldn’t think of anyone else but him.”
Meanwhile, The Witch 2 will hit theaters on June 15th.
