The first trial for former NCT member Taeil is set to take place today.
Originally scheduled for May 12 at the Seoul Central District Court, the initial hearing was postponed and will now proceed as planned, according to legal sources.
Back in March 2025, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office indicted Taeil and two accomplices without detention on charges of aggravated quasi-rape under the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes.
The three are accused of sexually assaulting an intoxicated woman in June 2024 while under the influence of alcohol. As the act was allegedly committed jointly against an unconscious victim, the charge of aggravated quasi-rape applies.
Taeil debuted in 2016 as a member of NCT’s first unit, NCT U, and was active in both NCT and NCT 127. After confirming the criminal allegations against him, SM Entertainment promptly announced his departure from the group and officially terminated his exclusive contract in October last year.
