Jung Hae In has reportedly passed on a lead role in an upcoming Japanese drama, putting the production team in a tight spot.
On November 26, Japanese media outlet Post Seven reported that a TBS drama, which had been under positive consideration by Jung Hae In, is now facing uncertainty following the actor’s decision to pass on the project. Jung Hae In’s agency, FNC Entertainment, has not released an official statement on the matter.
According to the report, the drama was set to feature Jung Hae In alongside Japanese actor Kentaro Sakaguchi. The storyline revolves around a South Korean lawyer and a Japanese veterinarian who initially clash but gradually build trust and friendship, overcoming cultural and professional differences as they rediscover their individual paths in life.
The production had been targeting a February 2025 start date for filming. However, with Jung Hae In pulling out just months before shooting was scheduled to begin, the project is now in jeopardy. Casting a replacement has proven challenging, and sources indicate that even Sakaguchi was caught off guard by the sudden change.
Jung Hae In previously connected with Japanese audiences through the 2022 Disney Plus Korean-Japanese collaboration Connect. Most recently, he gained widespread acclaim with his role in the hit tvN drama Love Next Door.
