Fans of IU are up in arms after it was revealed that her agency, EDAM Entertainment, relocated its offices without informing the star herself. The controversy surfaced on October 21st, when EDAM posted a notice on IU’s fan cafe, informing fans of the new address for fan letters and gifts due to the company’s office relocation.

However, it appears IU was unaware of the move until just before the official announcement. When fans noticed their letters were being returned and questioned her, IU responded with surprise, saying, “Did they move without telling me? As far as I know, they didn’t.”

This revelation left fans outraged, with many criticizing the agency for not notifying their artist. Concerns were also raised about how the agency handles other matters, such as broadcast invitations.

EDAM Entertainment currently represents only two artists—IU and WOODZ, who is currently serving in the military—leading to increased scrutiny over the company’s management practices. This isn’t the first time IU’s fans have voiced concerns about her agency. In May last year, they held a truck protest, criticizing the agency’s inadequate response to a copyright infringement lawsuit filed against the singer.

In another incident last April, a fan was mistakenly accused of reselling concert tickets and was banned from attending the show. The fan was also permanently expelled from the fan club, sparking further controversy. Though the agency later promised to improve its systems, fans expressed frustration that IU was left to bear the brunt of the backlash.

IU signed an exclusive contract with EDAM Entertainment in January 2020. The company was founded by her longtime manager Bae Jong Han, who has been with her since her debut.
