Director Na Hong Jin’s latest film, Hope, is officially heading to North America.

The production team announced a distribution partnership with NEON to bring the movie to U.S. audiences following its inclusion in the competition section at the 79th Cannes Film Festival.

The film has already generated significant buzz, with the Cannes Film Festival Executive Director describing it as “a story that constantly shifts genres, unfolding a new narrative never before explored.”

NEON, founded in 2017, has a reputation for handling high-profile international titles, including six consecutive Palme d’Or winners like Bong Joon Ho’s Parasite. The distributor has played a key role in expanding the global reach of Korean cinema, recently managing the North American release of Park Chan Wook’s No Other Choice.

“We are delighted to partner with director Na Hong Jin, as well as Forged Films and Plus M Entertainment, to bring the highly anticipated Hope to audiences worldwide,” NEON stated regarding the deal.

Set in a remote outpost within the DMZ, Hope follows village chief Beom Seok (played by Hwang Jung Min) as a rumored tiger sighting unravels into a reality far more disturbing than anyone imagined.

The film is set to have its world premiere at Cannes in May, with a theatrical release scheduled for this summer.
