Jungkook showed a more unfiltered side of himself during a recent livestream—and it’s getting people talking.
Earlier today, the BTS star went live on Weverse for what he described as a casual drinking stream, chatting openly with fans. Throughout it, Jungkook emphasized that his reason for singing and dancing has always come down to ARMY.
“The reason I sing and dance is because there are people watching,” he said. “If no one watched, why would I sing or dance? Why would I write songs or put in the effort?” He added that his motivation isn’t just about personal freedom, but about the fans who continue to wait for him. “The people who make me want to do something—honestly, it’s only you guys,” he said.
At times, Jungkook also hinted at feeling constrained by the expectations surrounding him. “I don’t know. I’ll just live the way I want,” he said. “I don’t know about the company either. But I don’t want to lose the things that matter to me.”
He acknowledged that speaking so openly—and while drinking—could draw criticism, but brushed it off. “This might become controversial, but that’s just who I am,” he said, adding that he always wants to be honest with fans.
Jungkook also addressed past habits, sharing that he had smoked heavily but worked hard to quit. At the same time, he quickly reassured viewers about his agency, saying, “The company is good. There are people who look out for me and keep me in check.”
During the live, Jungkook’s casual language—including swearing while talking with friends off-camera—added to the candid tone of the broadcast. At one point, he even jokingly flipped off a friend before laughing it off, clarifying that he would never speak that way toward fans. “I don’t curse at ARMY. I only give you love,” he said playfully.
Later, Jungkook grew more reflective, apologizing and admitting he may have been feeling overwhelmed. “I’m sorry. Maybe I was frustrated. I’m human too. I have my limits,” he said. “How many people in the world can really be completely honest? I don’t think there are many.”
The livestream has since sparked mixed reactions online, with some fans praising what they saw as an honest, human moment from the singer, while others questioned whether he should have been more careful given his public profile.
