The legal battle between former ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin and the K-pop industry is intensifying as she strikes back against a new round of allegations. Min has issued a fiery response to recent media reports claiming she met with a wealthy Japanese investor in early 2024 to secure funding for NewJeans’ independence from HYBE, calling the narrative a complete “fiction.”
On February 23rd, Min took to social media to dismiss the report by Dispatch. She wrote, “No one will believe such a phony story anymore.” She continued, “Your ability to blow trivial matters out of proportion is strikingly similar to someone I know.”
Min Hee Jin also pointed out, “Instead of focusing on a private civil matter, why not pay attention to those currently under criminal investigation?” She added, “Remember, I also have the right to defend myself when interviewed. Stop spreading false information and follow journalistic ethics.”
She made it clear that she plans to take legal action, stating, “We will hold them fully accountable, both civilly and criminally, to the fullest extent of the law.”
This response signals a zero-tolerance policy toward claims that she tried to “hijack” NewJeans by seeking outside capital.
The latest conflict comes after the legal victory for Min Hee Jin. The Seoul Central District Court recently rejected a lawsuit from HYBE that sought to end her shareholder contract. The court rejected HYBE’s claim and ordered them to pay approximately 25.5 billion won ($17.6 million) to Min Hee Jin. Following this legal victory, Min Hee Jin has applied for a provisional attachment to freeze HYBE’s bank account. The application was filed on February 20th as part of the procedure following her win.
