As the controversy surrounding comedian Park Na Rae continues, a former reporter–run entertainment exposé channel Behind Master is pointing to a key moment he claims triggered the fallout: the burglary at Park Na Rae’s Itaewon home.
In a video released on December 15th, YouTuber Lee Jin Ho argued that the issue goes beyond disputes over employment contracts and insurance, claiming the burglary became the decisive catalyst for managers to publicly go against her.
According to Lee, after ending her nine-year contract with JDB Entertainment, Park Na Rae moved to a one-person agency registered under her mother’s name. Two managers—one longtime associate and one new hire—allegedly worked without formal contracts or enrollment in South Korea’s four mandatory insurance programs until September, receiving pay as freelancers instead.
By contrast, Park Na Rae’s mother and her then-boyfriend were reportedly registered as company staff, with the boyfriend said to have earned around 4 million KRW per month (approx. 2,700 USD).
Lee noted that while the company’s size complicates immediate legal penalties, “the bigger issue is that full employment and insurance were promised but not delivered.”
Tensions escalated after the April burglary, in which high-value items worth tens of millions of won were stolen—an incident serious enough to cause Park Na Rae to miss a live radio broadcast. Media reports at the time referenced a possible “inside job,” intensifying scrutiny.
Lee further alleged that Park Na Rae’s then-boyfriend collected their personal information under the pretense of drafting contracts, but that the data was later submitted to police as reference material for potential suspects. The managers reportedly learned they were considered persons of interest only after contacting investigators themselves.
Police later arrested an unrelated third party, but Lee argued the damage was already done, saying the delayed resolution of employment issues left managers feeling deeply betrayed.
Then, earlier today, Park Na Rae released a statement addressing allegations including mistreatment of staff, illegal medical practices, and embezzlement.
She said she is taking the situation seriously, has voluntarily stepped down from all current programs, and will suspend activities while the matter is reviewed through legal channels.
