Top actor Jung Woo Sung faced questions about his private life while promoting his highly anticipated new drama.
The actor attended the press conference for Disney Plus’s original series Made in Korea, held at the Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas Hotel on the morning of December 15th. He was joined by director Woo Min Ho and co-stars Hyun Bin, Woo Do Hwan, Seo Eun Soo, Won Ji An, Jung Sung Il, Kang Gil Woo, Noh Jae Won and Park Yong Woo.
Made in Korea is set in the turbulent 1970s, a time of chaos and rapid growth in South Korea. The story follows Baek Ki Tae (played by Hyun Bin), a man driven by ambition to reach the pinnacle of wealth and power, and Jang Geon Young (Jung Woo Sung), a relentless prosecutor who chases him to the ends of the earth.
This marks the first drama series directed by Woo Min Ho, known for acclaimed films like The Man Standing Next and Harbin.
The event drew attention as it marked Jung’s return to dramas following recent revelations about his private life, including his secret marriage.
When asked about his mindset returning to work amidst personal changes, Jung responded cautiously.
“I understand where you’re coming from,” he said. “But since today’s event is a gathering of many actors from Made in Korea, I hope you’ll understand that I can’t go into personal matters at length.”
Co-star Jung Sung Il, who also recently made headlines with news of his divorce, kept his comments focused on the project. “This is a work that was made with joy and passion by everyone, the director, the actors, and the staff,” he said. “We gave it our all, and there’s no doubt about that.”
Made in Korea Season 1 will premiere its six episodes starting December 24th, with Season 2 scheduled for release next year.
