Comedienne Park Na Rae is facing a tough legal battle after negotiations with her former managers broke down, following her announcement that she will halt all TV activities indefinitely until the matter is resolved.

YouTuber Lee Jin Ho revealed the details of the failed negotiations on his YouTube channel on December 9th. Despite earlier public statements suggesting that a resolution was near, Lee explained that the situation became more complicated after the talks fell through. “Negotiations broke down, and both sides are now gearing up for a legal battle,” he said.

The breakdown of talks followed Park’s change in position after a scandal involving an acquaintance who administered medical treatments to her without a valid license or degree. The woman, who treated Park while wearing a medical gown, is not registered as a doctor, nurse, or nursing assistant in Korea. The Korean Medical Association, the Korean Nurses Association, and the Korean Licensed Practical Nurses Association have all confirmed she is not listed in their registries. The Ministry of Health and Welfare is currently investigating the acquaintance’s qualifications and reviewing relevant laws to determine if charges should be filed.

Park Na Rae stepped away from all broadcast activities earlier this week after being accused of workplace abuse and misconduct by her former staff. Park had initially been firm in her stance, even filing a counter-lawsuit against her managers for blackmail. This legal move followed an attempt by her mother to mediate by sending 20 million won ($14,000) to the managers as a settlement—an offer they rejected.

However, things changed after the medical scandal emerged. Park reportedly called her manager at 1 AM over the weekend, expressing a desire to settle the dispute. This led to a meeting at her home at 3 AM.

Lee Jin Ho explained the dynamics of the meeting, saying, “Their interests diverged. The manager was focused on resolving financial issues like severance pay and unpaid salary, while Park was more concerned with emotional closure and offering an apology.”

Despite the emotional meeting, no agreement was reached, and both sides are now continuing their legal battles.

Park’s departure has affected several TV programs she starred in, including Where Is My Home, I Live Alone and Amazing Saturday, all of which confirmed they will edit her out of upcoming episodes. Her personal YouTube channel has also stopped uploading new videos.

In her statement, Park said, “I was finally able to meet with my former manager with the help of many people. While we resolved some misunderstandings and distrust, I still believe everything is my fault, and I am deeply reflecting.”
