Disney Plus has unveiled the trailer for its upcoming original series Made in Korea, a tense power-play thriller centered on a man consumed by ambition.
Set in 1970s Korea—a period marked by both upheaval and rapid development—the series follows Baek Ki Tae (Hyun Bin), a man who aims to turn the nation itself into his business model as he climbs toward the peak of wealth and power. Opposite him stands Prosecutor Jang Gun Young (Jung Woo Sung), who pursues him with relentless determination, pulling the two into era-defining conspiracies that test the limits of justice and desire.
The teaser opens with Baek Ki Tae solemnly saluting the national flag. When Jang Gun Young asks why he joined the KCIA, Baek responds coldly, “To serve my country,” foreshadowing a clash of principles between the two men.
Despite warnings from his superiors, Jang Gun Young tracks a shadowy crime network with unwavering resolve. His line, “I will catch Baek Ki Tae—no matter what,” underlines his obsession, while quick cuts of the characters hint at tangled alliances and hidden agendas. Baek’s chilling statement—“This too is patriotism. I’m serving the nation”—raises questions about the true nature of his actions within the intelligence agency.
The tension escalates with Jang’s warning, “If you’re going up against me, you’d better be ready,” and the trailer closes with a razor-sharp exchange: Baek asks, “What game are you playing?” to which Jang answers simply, “Patriotism.”
The cast lineup further heightens anticipation, featuring Woo Do Hwan, Cho Yeo Jung, Seo Eun Soo, Won Ji An, Jung Sung Il, Roh Jae Won, Lily Franky, and Park Yong Woo, each adding their own intensity to the ensemble.
Made in Korea will debut exclusively on Disney Plus, releasing two episodes on December 24th, two more on December 31st, followed by one episode each on January 7th and January 14th, for a total of six episodes.
