Charlize Theron set Korean social media ablaze after she was unexpectedly spotted in Seoul’s lively Hongdae district.
On November 23rd, a video titled “Saw a Hollywood Star in Person” began circulating across social media and online communities. The uploader wrote, “My friend ran into Charlize Theron in Hongdae. She’s her big fan and asked very politely if she could take photos with her, and she agreed with no hesitation.”

In the clip, Theron walks through Hongdae wearing sunglasses and a long coat, smiling warmly when approached by a fan requesting a photo. Netizens reacted with excitement, writing comments like “I’m so jealous,” “She looks like a mannequin in real life,” and “Hard to believe a Hollywood actor is walking around without security.”
Her official schedule in Korea hasn’t been confirmed, but the woman seen walking alongside her is presumed to be her daughter—fueling speculation that the visit may be a personal trip.

The number of global celebrities visiting Korea continues to climb. Hollywood actor Chase Infiniti, known for his K-pop cover dance background, recently posted photos of himself exploring Seongsu-dong and visiting Olive Young. The Queen’s Gambit star Anya Taylor-Joy was also spotted at spas, the Namsan trail, and around Seongsu during her visit. Last year, Mission: Impossible actor Simon Pegg made headlines while traveling through Busan and Seoul and enjoying Korean food.

Meanwhile, Robert Pattinson, who came to Korea earlier this year for Bong Joon Ho’s Mickey 17, drew attention from local fans after trying tteokbokki and even getting a personal color analysis during his stay.
