Son Ye Jin couldn’t hide her affection for husband Hyun Bin as she looked back on the drama that made them one of Korea’s most beloved real-life couples.
On September 18th, at the 30th Busan International Film Festival, Son took the stage at Haeundae’s Sohyang Theater for BIFF’s signature Actors’ House program. This year, she was invited as both the lead of opening film No Other Choice and as one of BIFF’s featured actors.
Son and Hyun Bin first crossed paths on the 2018 film The Negotiation, but it was Crash Landing on You that transformed their on-screen chemistry into real-life romance, eventually leading to marriage.
During a Q&A session with fans, one asked Son what her happiest moment was while filming the hit drama. She smiled and admitted, “There were so many happy moments. I wonder why. Honestly, I was happy every single day.”
She continued with a laugh, “After having a baby, my memory isn’t what it used to be, so not everything is crystal clear. But I remember Switzerland. We filmed that ending scene early on. I suddenly recalled the moment I came down on a paraglider and met Ri Jung Hyuk (Hyun Bin) before embracing him. That scenery was unforgettable… and so was Ri Jung Hyuk at that moment. That memory still feels vivid even now.”
Son admitted that Switzerland was also one of the toughest shoots. “We filmed every day, and the schedule was grueling. Back then, I didn’t get to enjoy Switzerland the way I should have. But those scenes keep coming back to me.”
Actors’ House is BIFF’s signature talk series spotlighting actors who embody both star power and craft, offering candid conversations about their careers and creative journeys. This year’s lineup includes Lee Byung Hun, Son Ye Jin, Kazunari Ninomiya, and Kim Yoo Jung, giving audiences a rare chance to hear intimate stories from some of Asia’s biggest stars.
