Netflix is ready to unleash a new assassin thriller. The streamer confirmed that its original Korean action film Mantis will premiere worldwide on September 26th, alongside the release of a striking poster and teaser.

The film centers on Han Ul (Yim Si Wan), a top-tier contract killer nicknamed “Mantis,” who makes his comeback after a long hiatus only to find the industry in chaos. Once the pride of the powerful hitman corporation MK ENT., Han Ul learns that the company’s CEO has been killed and the empire is on the brink of collapse.

Based on the chilling moniker “Mantis,” written with characters meaning “death,” “demon,” and “ghost,” Han Ul’s scythe-shaped weapon promises the kind of stylish, brutal action that sets the tone for a ruthless underworld clash. The tagline, “The New Era of Rising Killers,” teases a bloody showdown for the No. 1 spot in a lawless industry where every rule has been shattered.

The newly unveiled poster shows Yim Si Wan dressed in a vivid blood-red suit, a striking image that mirrors both the film’s violent aesthetic and the character’s lethal reputation.

The teaser opens with the heavy voice of MK ENT. CEO Cha Min Gyu (Sul Kyung Gu) reciting the rules of the assassin world. It quickly shifts into high gear, previewing the deadly triangle at the heart of the story: Han Ul, his longtime friend-turned-rival Jae Yi (Park Gyu Young), and retired legendary killer Dok Go (Jo Woo Jin). As the three collide for dominance, the teaser brims with tension, hinting at a high-stakes battle for supremacy.

One of the most gripping exchanges features Jae Yi taunting Han Ul with, “Am I not above you now?” to which he coldly fires back, “Is that why you wanted to kill me?” The dialogue underscores their fraught relationship, teetering between camaraderie and enmity.

Who will emerge as the new No. 1? That’s the central question as Netflix gears up for the global premiere. Mantis streams exclusively on Netflix starting September 26th.
