After stepping away from RIIZE following personal controversy, XngHan (under SM Entertainment) is back—with a new identity and new sound. On July 31st, he officially debuts as a solo artist under the creative project XngHan & Xoul, dropping a two-track single titled Waste No Time.
“I’m more excited than anything,” he said, reflecting on the moment. “I’ve always liked taking on new challenges, and as I planned this debut, I talked about how I could show something fresh with the staff—that’s how I got the idea for ‘XngHan & Xoul.’ It started with the idea of staying open.”
Because dance has always been his core passion, he teamed up with two dancers around his age to debut as a trio. “I call them my ‘Xouls,’” he smiled. “I was so nervous at our first meeting, I kept changing outfits trying to look cool. But we clicked right away, and now we’re having a great time.”

He describes the new single as “a summer day in music.” Bright and exhilarating “Waste No Time” is his pick for a road trip, while “Heavenly Blue,” the B-side, leans dreamy and reflective—perfect for winding down a long day. “The recording was tough—there were a lot of syllables and tricky rhythms, so I really had to give it my all,” he recalled.
One of his favorite moments from the project was sprinting with his Xouls while filming the music video in Mongolia. “I hadn’t run like that in forever. I just started laughing—it felt weirdly freeing.”
Looking ahead, XngHan is already dreaming big: “I love singing just as much as dancing, so I’d love to be a vocalist for a band someday. And more than anything, my goal is to create an album full of songs I’ve written and composed myself. I really believe lyrics matter, so I’ve been reading books and listening to all kinds of music during my downtime as part of my own personal ‘research.’”
