Low Life has exploded out of the gate, immediately claiming the No. 1 spot on Disney Plus Korea in the TV show category, according to FlixPatrol’s July 18th rankings. The series is also dominating abroad, landing in the Top 3 in Japan and Taiwan.
In addition, Low Life surged to the top of Korea’s OTT search and recommendation platform Kinolights, beating out hundreds of films and series to rank No. 1 overall.

The buzz didn’t stop with the charts. Viewers flooded social media with rave reviews following the show’s premiere: “If you’re hesitating, just watch it. It’s seriously so good,” “That regional dialect? So crisp. And the actors? Absolute magic,” “The performances are phenomenal, and the Jeolla dialect is on point,” “It’s so good—I’m counting down to Wednesdays now.”
One standout is Jung Yun Ho, who drew special attention for his transformation. Sporting a 1970s-style leather jacket and delivering lines in fluent Mokpo dialect, the singer-turned-actor brought real texture to his role. Viewers were impressed, with one quipping, “Maybe he was never bad at acting—maybe he was just bad at speaking standard Seoul Korean.”
Earlier this month, Jung made headlines when he shared that he’d received a few acting pointers from veteran Ryu Seung Ryong during Low Life’s press conference—a moment that quickly went viral for its charm.
