Coupang Play’s breakout series Boyhood is officially returning for Season 2, riding the wave of explosive fan support.
Since its debut, Boyhood captured viewers with its offbeat characters, down-to-earth humor, and heavy dose of Chungcheong-do dialect, sparking a full-on cultural phenomenon dubbed the Boyhood Syndrome. Season 1 was set in a rural agricultural high school, but for Season 2, the story moves seaside with even bigger laughs and bolder characters.
Packed with 100% pure comedy, a refreshing story, and unforgettable performances, Boyhood became Coupang Play’s most-watched original of 2023. The show saw a staggering 2,914% increase in viewership compared to its premiere week and racked up over 590,000 reviews—making it a certified hit.
The series further proved its excellence by winning a total of seven awards throughout 2024, including honors at the 3rd Blue Dragon Series Awards, the 2024 Asia Contents Awards & Global OTT Awards, the 15th Korea Drama Awards, and the 2024 Content Asia Awards.
Back at the helm for Season 2 is director Lee Myung Woo. “It’s thanks to all the love the fans have shown that we can return with a new chapter,” Lee shared. “This time, we’re diving into life at a seaside fisheries high school, with more diverse and multidimensional characters. We plan to capture moments of youth that are both familiar yet fresh, cheerful yet sincere.”
Boyhood Season 2 will begin production in the first half of 2026, with a release date to be announced later.
