Hwang Jung Eum has announced that she has repaid the entire amount she was accused of embezzling by liquidating her personal assets.
On June 17th, her agency, Y1 Entertainment, released an official statement saying, “Hwang Jung Eum has fully repaid the amount she used as an advance from Hunminjeongeum Entertainment by selling her personal assets. The repayment was completed in two installments, on May 30th and June 5th, 2025.”
The agency added, “All financial matters between Hunminjeongeum Entertainment and Hwang Jung Eum have now been fully resolved.”
They continued, “As the sole owner of a one-person company without professional management experience, Hwang Jung Eum acknowledges her lack of tax and accounting knowledge. She deeply regrets the situation and is taking all necessary legal and ethical steps to resolve the matter as quickly as possible.”
The agency concluded by saying, “We sincerely apologize once again for causing concern. Going forward, she will seek expert advice even for the smallest matters and will act with greater care and responsibility to regain public trust.”
In early 2022, Hwang Jung Eum reportedly received 700 million won ($500,000) as an advance from her 100% privately owned company and invested it in cryptocurrency. She was later indicted without detention on charges of embezzling a total of 4.34 billion won ($3.2 million) in company funds by December that year.

Through Y1 Entertainment, Hwang Jung Eum shared, “I wanted to grow the company, and around 2021, an acquaintance encouraged me to invest in cryptocurrency. Although the funds were in the company’s name, they were earnings I had made, so I mistakenly made some reckless decisions.”
