Kim So Hyun is stepping into her 17th year as an actor—and she’s doing it with grace, grit, and gratitude. The Good Boy star recently teamed up with Elle Korea for a pictorial that captures her versatility and grounded charisma.

Following the shoot, Kim sat down for an interview to talk about her upcoming JTBC drama Good Boy, which premieres on May 31st. “When I think about this project, what comes to mind first is, ‘We actually did it!'” she shared with a smile. “Like any production, we all gave it everything we had. From Seoul to Busan, through all four seasons, the entire cast and crew worked with the same goal: to see it through to the end. As the premiere draws near, I feel a deep, emotional rush knowing that the final result is finally making its way out into the world.”

In Good Boy, Kim plays Ji Han Na, a former gold-medal sharpshooter turned elite police officer on a special task force. “She’s bold and cool-headed—definitely not the soft, sweet type,” Kim explained. “I’ve always been drawn to characters like that. Not overly delicate, but casual, a bit aloof. Ji Han Na’s life starts and ends with a gun. She cuts through stereotypes like a bullet, and I found myself completely hooked by her fearless, fiery energy.”

When asked if playing characters with strong moral compasses leads her to reflect on the idea of justice, Kim replied thoughtfully, “In the end, justice wins. Along the way, it might look like only the good people get hurt, or that the world’s too unfair—but I think the struggle makes that final payoff all the more powerful.” She continued, “This is a project that I hope gives strength to people who are exhausted, who can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel. I want them to feel, ‘It’s okay. Just take one step forward.'”

Asked how she would define the phrase “so Kim So Hyun,” she offered a quiet answer: “Just being natural. I don’t want to torture myself or push beyond my limits. I believe my ‘natural’ self will shine someday. It’s good to keep moving forward steadily in everything. Both my acting career and my life—just flowing along smoothly is a blessing in itself. And I hope I never lose that sense of gratitude.”
