Disney Plus is turning up the suspense this June with its upcoming crime thriller Hunter with a Scalpel, dropping an intense character poster and trailer that preview a chilling game of cat and mouse between a daughter and her serial killer father.
Set to premiere on June 16th, Hunter with a Scalpel follows genius pathologist Seo Se Hyeon (Park Ju Hyun), who stumbles upon a disturbing clue while performing an autopsy—evidence tying the corpse to her father, whom she believed to be long dead. What unfolds is a tense, psychological manhunt as she sets out to track him down herself, before the police do, in order to bury her past once and for all.
The poster features the three central characters in sharp emotional contrast: Park Ju Hyun as the brilliant but haunted Se Hyeon; Park Yong Woo as Yoon Jo Kyoon, Se Hyeon’s father and a psychopathic serial killer flashing a sinister smile; and Kang Hoon as Jung Jung Hyun, a hardened violent crimes detective with unshakable commitment to justice. The tagline—”My father started killing again”—hints at the dangerous tension between the trio.
The accompanying trailer dives straight into the chaos, beginning with the return of the infamous “Tailor Murders.” As Se Hyeon examines the body on her autopsy table, she realizes it’s connected to her supposedly dead father. Detective Jung Hyun, sensing a serial killing, seeks out her help.
Tension skyrockets as Jo Kyoon emerges with a devilish grin, his return underscored by the chilling line: “It was just like before. My serial killer father is back.” The final scene shows Se Hyeon charging at her father, scalpel in hand, just as he eerily coos, “Welcome home, my daughter.”
The series premieres June 16th and will release a total of 16 episodes over the span of four weeks, exclusively on Disney Plus.
