Kim Soo Hyun’s drama Knock-Off  has halted filming indefinitely, drawing attention to the potential penalty fees the actor may now face.

The production team behind Disney Plus’s Knock-Off recently informed the cast and crew of the indefinite suspension of filming and postponed the show’s release schedule, according to reports on April 23.

When contacted by YTN Star, Disney Plus stated, “We have no additional statement beyond the earlier announcement that the release of Knock-Off has been put on hold.”

Knock-Off is a 60 billion KRW ($42 million) production, and Kim Soo Hyun was reportedly paid around 9 billion KRW ($6.3 million) for his role.

The production team is reportedly discussing penalties related to the disruption of production. Industry insiders speculate that the penalty could amount to as much as 180 billion KRW ($126 million), three times the production cost, though the exact figure has not been disclosed.

Previously, Kim Soo Hyun halted all activities after becoming embroiled in a controversy involving his late ex-girlfriend, Kim Sae Ron. Allegations include an underage relationship and pressure related to debt repayment.

On March 31, he held an emergency press conference, denied the allegations, and announced plans for legal action.

Knock-Off is an 18-episode blockbuster drama following the story of Kim Sung Jun, whose life is upended by the 1997 Asian financial crisis. He transforms from an ordinary office worker into the king of the counterfeit market. Kim Soo Hyun stars alongside Jo Bo Ah.
