Japanese actress Mei Nagano has recently found herself at the center of a controversy involving alleged affairs with two actors—married Japanese star Kei Tanaka and Korean actor Kim Mu Jun. The speculation surrounding Kim arose after rumors claimed he was Nagano’s boyfriend.

On April 23rd, Kim Mu Jun’s agency, 9Ato Entertainment, responded to the rumors in a statement to Hankyung, clarifying, “Kim Moo Joon and Mei Nagano are just close colleagues,” firmly denying any romantic involvement.

That same day, the Japanese weekly magazine Shūkan Bunshun published photos of Nagano and Tanaka engaging in physical affection and claimed that the two were having an affair. Tanaka, who has been married since 2011 and is the father of two daughters, is now facing significant public backlash in Japan.

The news quickly spread in Korea as well, with the photos circulating rapidly. One netizen shared the Shūkan Bunshun photos, writing, “Is Mei Nagano really two-timing…? The guy on the right is supposedly Kei Tanaka, and the one on the left is Kim Moo Joon—what is going on?”

The magazine also reported that Nagano had invited a Korean male co-star from her current drama to her home, further fueling speculation about her personal relationships.

Nagano is currently starring in the TBS Sunday drama Caster, which premiered on April 13th, alongside Kim Mu Jun. Their on-screen partnership has led to increased scrutiny, with some in both Korea and Japan speculating that Kim could be her real-life partner.

Born in 1999, Mei Nagano is considered one of Japan’s most promising young actresses, known for both her acting chops and striking visuals. She made her debut in the 2009 film Hard Revenge, Milly: Bloody Battle and has since appeared in popular works such as Daytime Shooting Star, My Love Story!, Half Blue and Love That Makes You Cry.

Kei Tanaka, born in 1984, rose to fame through the BL drama series Ossan’s Love and had enjoyed a strong fan base—until now, as the scandal continues to unfold.
