Koo Jun Yup, aka DJ Koo, is paying tribute to his late wife, Barbie Hsu, by creating a memorial statue in her honor.
According to Taiwanese media on March 18th, DJ Koo has teamed up with a designer friend to personally craft the statue, which he considers his final gift to his wife. The statue is expected to be completed within this year.
Barbie Hsu’s mother and sister, Dee Hsu, have expressed their support for the project. The statue will be installed in a memorial park in New Taipei City’s Chin Pao San, approximately 400 meters from where Barbie Hsu’s remains are buried. The unveiling ceremony will be held privately.
DJ Koo and his designer friend personally designed the statue, incorporating details that he particularly loved about his wife, the report stated. Once the statue is completed, DJ Koo plans to pay tribute to Barbie Hsu before returning to Seoul.
DJ Koo and Barbie Hsu first dated in 1998 but parted ways after a year. She later married Chinese businessman Wang Xiaofei, with whom she had a son and daughter, before divorcing in 2021. In 2022, she reunited with DJ Koo, and the two tied the knot shortly after. Sadly, just before their third anniversary, DJ Koo was left mourning her passing.
