A Japanese woman who planted an unexpected kiss on BTS member Jin is now facing sexual harassment charges.
According to recent police reports, the Songpa Police Station in Seoul has charged a woman in her 50s, identified only as “A,” with sexual harassment in a crowded public place under the Sexual Violence Punishment Act. Authorities have requested she appear for questioning.
The incident occurred on June 13th of last year, the day after Jin completed his military service, during his “Jin’s Greetings” event at Jamsil Indoor Stadium in Seoul. The special fan meeting featured Jin hugging 1,000 fans, but the woman allegedly went beyond the boundaries by kissing him on the cheek.
Video of the surprise kiss quickly spread online, sparking immediate controversy about sexual harassment. Shortly after, a formal complaint was filed at Songpa Police Station requesting an investigation into “A” for violating sexual violence laws, prompting police to launch a preliminary inquiry.
During their investigation, police discovered a post on a Japanese blog. The blog contained details like “my lips touched his neck” and “his skin was so soft.” Through international cooperation with Japanese Interpol, police identified the woman approximately seven months after the incident.
Police have requested the woman, who currently resides in Japan, to appear for questioning, but she has reportedly remained unresponsive. Authorities are also considering interviewing Jin as a victim in the case.
